XM Install in 2007 4Runner

This install was a little bit daunting to me because it required so much disassembly and the car is only seven months old. The dealer would want about $1,000 to install it and I really wasn’t that interested in it for that price. I was able to find the parts online for $225 and the Toyota install guide in a forum. I ended up having this Sunday open and decided to go for it. I was planning on breaking it into sections so that I could get to a point and still have the vehicle operational and finish the install later. First I went for the antenna install, secondly was mounting the tuner under the seat, thirdly was getting the wiring harness to the back of the stereo.

Here are the pics

Installing the antenna which required removing all of the paneling in the rear cargo area, the left tail light, and the right rear seat belt.

It couldn’t have been a total success as I see no evidence of empty beer cans strewn throughout the vehicle. Hang your head in shame!

So, I’ve got the same year 4runner, and want to install an XM tuner to the factory head unit just like you did. Did you order your kit from Toyota? Is there anyway you could lead me in the right direction? Also, are you able to completely control the xm via the factory head unit?

Any help would be appreciated, you seem to be my only hope.

Thanks.
Ryan

Planning on having my 4runner looking like your pictures soon. I’ve the XM turner, fit kit, radio, but could use some help with the isntallation guide. Just wondering if you still had the link to the forum you found the guide, or if you might have a copy you can email? I appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Mike
